Joshua Clarke is a self taught, visual artist based in England. He specializes in portraiture and figurative art, using allegory and surrealist settings to convey themes around mental illness, social isolation, politics, and social commentary. Originally from Wales, his inspirations are wide ranging, from Egon Shiele, Gustave Klimt, George Grosz and Lucian Freud, to Artemisia Gentileschi. He draws from each, but within the context of his own unique, expressive style.
